Suspected Out of Province Containers, Edmonton and Surrounding Area – American Aluminum Cans

To Depot Operators and Staff,

Over the weekend, September 15, 2018, the BCMB was notified of a male customer driving a white GMC pickup truck (Alberta plate: MUS 078). The customer attempted to return a large number of suspected American aluminum cans, notably A&W and Pepsi cans, that showed fl oz rather than ml. When asked about the containers the customer became angry and left with the containers.

Please be aware that these containers could be brought into your Depot (especially if you are in the Edmonton and surrounding area). If you suspect that these containers have arrived at your Depot, fill out the Container Validation Request (CVR) form on the quality monitoring system and do not pay for these containers. Please quarantine the containers at your Depot – do not provide a refund to the customer and do not ship the containers to ABCRC until advised by the BCMB. Be sure to document how many bags/containers were left and provide the customer with the BCMB phone number so they know who to contact should they have questions.

If the customer remains unwilling to provide any information and wishes to leave with the product they may do so but please make note of the encounter and notify the BCMB.
